Between September 2019 and May 2020, D&P Bespoke Builds Ltd carried out a project involving substantial and complex building work. This involved a comprehensive refurbishment to a Grade II listed former school including the building of a two-storey extension onto the premises. The work was complicated by our insistence in remaining in the property with our three children throughout.

Dan Levey and Pete Edwards are directors of D&P Bepspoke Builds Ltd and employ a local team of extremely capable and experienced tradesmen, all with a particular skillset which allows for a superior level of workmanship. They are diligent, courteous, and professional at all times. They bring a level of enthusiasm and organisation each day that allows them to accomplish to contract, without a loss of quality. Personally, we have also found them to be the tidiest builders I have ever encountered. In fact, they are annoyingly difficult to fault. They are a transparent organisation, who kept us informed of progress and issues as they arose.  Both Dan and Pete project managed the build throughout, which meant the experience for us was genuinely exciting rather than stressful.

You may be interested to know how we came about employing D&P Bespoke Builds Ltd. Whilst plans had been drawn up and then put on hold for our own property, we became aware of a project being carried out in Rye. We observed the build on several occasions and thought that the work was of a standard we would aspire to for our own build. Entirely unknown to us, our Architect suggested a firm be added to their usual list of builders when sending out for the tender process. They had also seen the work on the property in Rye. That firm was D&P Bespoke Builds Ltd and they won the tender with something to spare.

The specification drawn up by the Architect was costed by D&P accurately and any additions, either requested by us or suggested due to the peculiarities of our build, were also costed, and agreed before being carried out.  When D&P began work, they had the worst possible weather for building throughout, as well as the Coronavirus first national lockdown from March 2020 causing further unprecedented issues, including the loss of a vulnerable employee. However, they genuinely relished the challenges and sought solutions to a fluid situation throughout. They ended up meeting the timescale originally set out. An excellent achievement in our view.

We would not hesitate in recommending D&P Bespoke Builds Ltd. We are not builders, nor have any connection to D&P. However, we do know quality work when we see it. We have ended up with a fantastic, unique family home finished to a truly high specification.

Project details – what problem are D&P Bespoke Builds solving for you?
D&P built us an amazing garden room with a bar.

Why did you choose D&P Bespoke Builds? What set us apart from our competitors?
We had been following D&P on Instagram for over a year. We didn’t obtain any other quotes from competitors as we were very impressed with their work we had seen online, and we wanted to support a local business.

What is your experience of working with D&P Bespoke Builds?
From start to finish we have been so impressed with the whole team and can’t say anything negative about them.

Would you recommend D&P Bespoke Builds to others?
We absolutely  love our brand-new garden room, and will most definitely be recommending them  to everyone. We have had so  many nice compliments about it. The thing we love  about D&P is their flexibility, and you can choose anything you want to  suit your own needs. Everyone is so  professional and friendly, and we wish them all the very best for the future.

Project details – what problem are D&P Bespoke Builds solving for you?
We have used D&P Bespoke Builds for two major projects. The first was converting our unused roof space into a loft conversion (master bedroom and ensuite bathroom). The second is creating a spacious kitchen/diner by extending and converting the original dining room, and turning the original kitchen into an additional living space for our teenage boys. Both projects had the aim of increasing the overall footprint of our house, without making it too top-heavy or bottom-heavy. Our elder son has complex disabilities and is unlikely to ever live completely independently, so we needed to make the house big enough for three adults to live here in the future and ensure he has his own space.

Why did you choose D&P Bespoke Builds? What setus apart from our competitors?
It was vitally important to us that the builders we chose would understand our needs as a family, and, crucially, would understand our elder son’s challenges and anxiety with strangers being in his house and working in his bedroom. Dan and Pete have had an incredibly good understanding of our son’s needs since our very first discussion about taking on the work. If there is such a thing as ‘autism friendly’ builders, then this is what they are. In addition, they have always been very up-front and clear with regard to pricing and schedules and are great at communicating with us to always let us know what’s happening when.

What is your experience of working with D&P Bespoke Builds?
Incredibly positive. All members of the team are so pleasant, tidy and respectful of our home that it’s a pleasure having them in. Dan, Pete and Ben have become much more like friends than just ‘the builders’.

Would you recommend D&P Bespoke Builds to others?
Absolutely yes, without hesitation.
